I’ve tried plenty of mascaras over the years, and these two are still some of my favorite affordable picks when I want extra volume.

I keep coming back to this one whenever I want my lashes to look fuller and more defined. The brush does a really good job of catching my lashes from root to tip, so I can build up the volume without making everything look messy. I also like how separated my lashes look after applying it. With a couple of coats, I get that lifted, fluttery effect I love without dealing with a bunch of clumps. It’s such an easy mascara to use when I want my eyes to look more awake but still polished.

For a bolder lash look, L’Oréal Voluminous is one of my favorites. I love how quickly it adds noticeable thickness, so I don’t have to spend forever layering product to get the effect I want. The formula is buildable, too. I can keep the first coat soft for an everyday look or add another layer when I’m going for something more dramatic. It also holds up nicely throughout the day, making it a great option when I want my lashes to stay looking full from morning until evening.

Both mascaras give me plenty of volume without making my makeup budget suffer. Maybelline Lash Sensational is my pick when I want defined, fluttery lashes, while L’Oréal Voluminous is the one I reach for when I’m craving a thicker, more dramatic look. Honestly, finding an affordable mascara that actually works feels like such a win.
